Andrew KozakKSN Meteorologist
akozak@ksn.comKSN Weekend Morning Meteorologist Andrew Kozak has known what he wanted to be since he was 3 years old -- a meteorologist. He grew up watching weathermen on TV at his family’s home on Staten Island in New York and dreamed of being on that screen one day. With hard work, dedication and talent, Andrew has made his dream come true.
Andrew joined the KSN WeatherLab in December of 2005, coming to Kansas from KTWO-TV, the ABC affiliate in Casper, Wyoming. He graduated with a degree in meteorology from the State University of New York, College at Oneonta. Like a baseball loving kid that gets to take batting practice at Yankee Stadium, Andrew’s first hands on experience in TV weather came at WABC in New York City where he was an intern.
Even though he’s a New York transplant, Andrew says he’s fortunate to work in Kansas. Because of the Greensburg tornado, he truly appreciates the opportunity to keep Kansas viewers informed when severe weather approaches.
Andrew received his AMS Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society in April 2009.
In addition to his love of weather and meteorology, Andrew has taken an active role in the community. He is currently a co-chairman on the Young Professionals of Wichita and serves on the Board of Trustees. The YPW works closely with the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce and Wichita leaders. Its mission is to attract and retain young, upcoming business people to live and work in the Wichita area.
Andrew also writes and hosts KSN’s Wednesday’s Child segment, which focuses on kids and adults in the Wichita area who are looking to get involved with Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Wednesday’s Child can be seen the first Wednesday of every month on KSN News @ Noon and KSN News @ 10.
Additionally, he likes to work out, travel, and try the new restaurants that are always popping up around the Wichita area.
