SALINA, Kansas The price to attend next year’s Smoky Hill River Festival has gone up, because officials say it costs more each year to put the festival on.

Purchasing river festival buttons in advance will cost $10. That’s up $3 from last year. And if you purchase them at the gates on festival days, the price will go up by $5 to $15 each.

Even with the increase, festival organizers say the price of admission is still a bargain compared to other regional events.

“The festival has always been important to keep affordable to Salinans,” said Connie Bonfy-Steward, executive director of Salina Arts and Humanities. “But let's face it, 10 dollars for the entire weekend, what a better price. And there are so many other festivals out there that are charging much more."

Button prices have not been increased since 2004. The 2010 Smoky Hill River Festival will be held June 10th through 13th in Oakdale Park.
