Man charged with sister's murder

GARDEN CITY, Kansas – A Garden City man has been formally charged with first-degree murder in the death of his sister.

Police say 52-year-old Luis Montoya stabbed his 55-year-old sister Maria with a kitchen knife in their mobile home last month after the two had been arguing over household chores.

In court Thursday, it was made known that Montoya is in the country illegally and subject to deportation. He’s being held on $800,000 bond. His next court appearance is set for September 18^th. If convicted Montoya could face 25 years to life in prison.
