New pharmacy coming to Hoisington

HOISINGTON, Kansas – Hoisington will soon begin construction on a new pharmacy.

The community has been working to bring a new drug store to town since losing its old pharmacy in 2007. Last year a deal fell through with two KU students who planned to move to central Kansas and open a pharmacy.

Now, the city’s inked a contract with Russell Pharmacist Marla Mooney. The city will issue more than $250,000 in bonds to build a new pharmacy for her next to Clara Barton Hospital. The remaining funs will come from a USDA Rural Development Grant.

It’s hoped the new pharmacy will be open for business early next year.
