SALINA, Kansas -- The Salina Police Department has released a mobile app on the Android Market.

The application allows users to obtain information, file some types of police reports, and make Crimestoppers tips.  The app can also link users to the department's Facebook and YouTube sites.

Salina Police Chief Jim Hill said the department plans to continue adapting emerging technologies to reduce cost, increase efficiency and better serve the public. The app was developed by Master Police Officer Rande Repp, and Hill said it was done at a very low cost.

The new app may be found by searching Android Market for "Salina Police."
