KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The head of the Fritz Pollard Alliance says that if the Kansas City Chiefs do not name a minority as their next head coach, it won't be because they failed to follow the Rooney Rule.

FPA chairman John Wooten told The Associated Press on Thursday that he's been distressed to hear that Kansas City has not talked with any black candidates.

Wooten said he personally knows of several minorities who have interviewed with Scott Pioli, the Chiefs' new general manager. Wooten declined to identify them.

Pioli fired coach Herm Edwards last month and immediately began his search for a new head coach.
