LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) - Top-ranked Kansas drew the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament, a distinction the Big 12 regular-season and tournament champion Jayhawks had expected.
The Jayhawks (32-2) were assigned to the Midwest Region on Sunday. It's the ninth time Kansas has been a No. 1 seed.
Ranked No. 1 in The Associated Press poll all but four weeks this season, the Jayhawks lost only to Tennessee and Oklahoma State, both on the road, while rolling up more than 30 wins for the third time in the past four seasons.
They beat Kansas State on Saturday in the Big 12 tournament title game.
