EL DORADO, Kan. --Hutchinson native Caleb Walker scored a career-high 29 points, helping his Butler Grizzlies roll to an 86-60 win over the Hutchinson Blue Dragons on Wednesday night in the Power Plant.

Walker made 13 of 16 shots in his effort to beat the team from his home town, while also pulling down six rebounds. It is second time in three conference games that the freshman has scored 20 or more points, as he scored 22 in the home win against Dodge City on Jan. 3. Keyon Milliner scored 16 points, DuShawn Brooks had 15 and Maurice Colter scored 10 as the Grizzlies had four players in double figures. Brooks led Butler with eight rebounds.

The 26-point win marks the second-largest margin of victory by a Butler team over Hutchinson. Only the 1997 team that beat Hutch by 28 points in a 75-47 win has beaten the Blue Dragons more handily than the current squad did on Wednesday.

Butler raced to a 21-6 lead in the game. Hutchinson scored seven straight to make it 21-13, but that was as close as the Blue Dragons would get. The Grizzlies finished the first half on a 19-4 run and led by 22 at the half, 46-24.

Hutchinson got as close as 18 points in the second half, but Butler began to pull away again, and jumped ahead by as many as 29 points at 75-46.

Butler, which beat Hutch for the first time in seven meetings over the past four years, improves to 13-4 on the season and 2-1 in Jayhawk West Conference play, while Hutch drops to 14-4 and is suffers its first loss in conference play to fall to 3-1 in the Jayhawk West.

Butler will be back in action Saturday in Great Bend against Barton County. The Grizzlies return to the Power Plant next Wednesday to face Colby.
