HUTCHINSON -- William Nelson scored 18 points, as top-ranked Hutchinson held off #25 Seward County 80-75 Wednesday at the Sports Arena.
It was the Blue Dragons' first game as the team atop the NJCAA poll. Hutchinson (15-0, 1-0) is #1 for the first time since the 1992 season.
Hutch led the Saints by ten at halftime, but Seward (12-3, 0-1) came back to make it a see-saw game. The Saints' last lead was near the four minute mark.
Seward's Jeremy Jones led all scorers with 26 points.
