WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police say at least seven people have been injured when crowds rushed the gates during a homecoming concert at Howard University.
Police spokeswoman Gwendolyn Crump says two officers were among those hurt and suffered minor injuries Friday afternoon. She says police now have the situation under control.
Crump says one person had a broken leg but she did not have details about the other injuries.
Fire officials say they were called to the Howard campus around 4 p.m. The university is holding an outdoor concert known as Yardfest. It is scheduled to include performances by artists including Big Sean, Juicy J and Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.
The event had been free in the past, but this year, tickets were $5.
