A horse isn't a pet in the same sense as a dog or cat. It won't curl up in a basket to sleep or fetch a stick. And you sure don't want one jumping up on your lap. On the other hand, you can't ride a kitten through an open field. Owning a horse is enormously expensive. The initial cost can be anything from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Unless you own a ranch, you'll need to find someone to board and feed it. There's a reason behind the saying 'eats like a horse.' Any animal of this size needs lots of food. Horses also need to be groomed, exercised, trained, ridden, and loved. If you're willing to make an enormous commitment in both time and money, owning a horse can be a rewarding, even exhilarating, experience.
