STAFFORD, Kansas -- Taste and See is the newest addition to Stafford and it may look like a small-town coffee shop, but they serve more than just coffee and good food.
" We wanted a place where people would walk in, be comfortable, feel ease where we could really serve them in the spirit of Christ because we are a Christian ministry," said Taste & See board member, Edna Ciegler
And in a fast paced world, Taste and See focuses on relationships with customers and God.
"You know we drive around and we live. But sometimes we live separate from each other so this is a neat place to connect," explained Carrie Hildebrand, board member.
Dubbed the home away from home, Taste and See started as five women's dream four years ago, one that became a reality on Sunday.
Board member Kava Farney said, "To see how the Lord took it from the beginning we thought it would come right away with the coffee house, but we had to be very patient and waiting for just the right place."
Their patience paid off- after people donated everything inside and outside Taste and See.
"We bought the building two years ago, and everything was on donation only. We had determined we weren't going to go into debt. That we wanted to tell stories on God, that this is his ministry, this is his project and that he would supply our needs," added Ciegler.
And the coffee shop is helping others in five different ministries with their profit.
"One is our local Ministerial Alliance who helps the community a great deal," said Ciegler.
And Project Belong, an organization next to Taste and See, helps children find Christian foster care and adoptive parents.
"To take your own profit and to give that away, it's just a selfless thing,"said Brandon Hoffman, Project Belong president.
Taste and see is not only giving back to Stafford non-profit groups, but its also giving to groups like Choices Clinic in Wichita, and Harvesters for life in Africa.
"Ministries that were just hoping to bless in some way including ourselves. Gotta give the credit to God," said Ciegler.
