WICHITA, Kansas -- A loss for the KSN community on Saturday as a storm chaser with our partner, Severe Studios, has died.

The Weather Channel is reporting that Andy Gabrielson died in a car accident today near Tulsa, Oklahoma.

He was on his way home from a two-day storm chase in Texas when he was involved in a head-on collision.

Gabrielson has appeared on KSN several times reporting on severe storms.

Probably best known for a nearly perfect stovepipe tornado he captured in 2010 in Campo, CO, just across the state line from Morton County, Kansas.

Ive only seen the story above, so I guess I missed the drunk driver. I think once you have a DUI you should be banned from driving for the rest of your life. Most DUI suspects have more than 1 count. On another hand Drivers period dont pay attention and accidents happen everyday due to carelessness.. Maybe they should be banned too! Some people talk crap about storm chasers being crazy for what they do until their house ends up in a pile of ruble. Police, Firemen, and the Military are not the only people that risk their lives to help save others, Kudos to this guy for doing what he did, and sympathy to his family!! @ Hunaliton- you must be unaware that you are also speaking about yourself! sorry just reality! I dont make comments because Im too scared to say what I think in public, I do it often actually, and have lost friends because they live stupidly and I was not afraid to say it! Im also open minded, say my husband was drinking and driving and killed someone, I would NOT make excuses for him, I would divorce him for being an immature, irresponsible jerk! I think leaving comments is a way for the community to get their voice out and just maybe someone that can make a difference sees something that clicks and a change could be made.

Incomplete reporting or not, It just pisses me off that people have nothing better to do but sit @ home and be rude and heartless with their comments as DONKEY DEUSCH has done. Its all good until there is a report about someone they know ends up in the news and then they tend to not like it so much and want to argue with everyone about THEIR comments. I see this day in and day out on these comment pages because the dumbasses who have diahrrea of the mouth tend to stay the same and you recognize their names (donkeyboy?!, just to name 1....more like jackass or Tiny(loves to hide behind computer with no balls)) and with their comments on most any story you read.....AND YES BOYS I'm talking about you!

Incomplete reporting leads to wrong assumptions. Why did KSN not have all the facts? By msnbc.com staff "Storm chaser Andy Gabrielson survived the hunt for tornadoes for more than 10 years, but driving home Saturday afternoon after two days of chasing storms in north Texas, he could not avoid a wrong-way driver on an Oklahoma highway," The Weather Channel reported.

If he would have paid attention to his driving as much as he did holding the camera to chase those storms, he might still be with us.
