WICHITA, Kansas -- Police are looking for a man who attacked a north Wichita couple early Wednesday.

A man and woman were in the backyard of a home near 17th and Broadway just before 3 a.m.  They were discussing roof repairs.

Police say the two were confronted by a man who appeared to be disoriented and seemed to want some property returned to him.

"The homeowners were unable to provide what the individual was wanting and, at that point in time, he became very agitated and attacked both of them," said Sgt. James Buettgenbach, Wichita Police Department.

Both the man and woman were injured. The man's injuries were more serious.

Police found the victims at a nearby payphone and they were transported to a hospital.

Police are still looking for the man who attacked them.

Citizen from what you post I would give the benefit of doubt at this time, but you should admit that at 3am it is a little hard to be able to see anything to discuss about.

Sounds like the whole story is a little off. I see the explaination that citzenwatch gave - ok still a little odd and I dont think we have the full story. Yea cant see much outside at 3 AM ESPECIALLY a roof of a home.

This is my neighbors and yes 3am does sound strange, however, the work off hours and this is the only time they see each other. Not defending the area or the areas reputation, but they are a very hard working and "normal" couple and family orientated as well. They do alot for the community and also since they have been here, and with their work hours and neighborhood watch envolvement, we have seen a drastic decrease in our breakins. Both vehicle and home. God bless them both and We appreciate all their help.

Perhaps they work nights and sleep during the day?

Something doesn't sound right about this story. Discussing roof repairs at 0300 at 17th and Broadway? Couldn't give the man what he asked for? I have a feeling there is more to this story.
