FINNEY COUNTY, Kansas – A Tyson Meats worker is dead after being stabbed in the neck while on the job Tuesday.

Deputies were dispatched to the plant in the 3100 block of N. IBP Rd. to a report of an industrial accident. Upon arrival, they found Cesar Muniz, of Garden City, suffering a wound to his neck. He was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Witnesses told officials Muniz and a 34-year-old co-worker were working in the same area when they bumped heads. It was then that Mr. Muniz was stabbed in the neck by the coworker who had a work knife in his hand.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

this is a death were talking about a human being dead. someone that had emotions and a family like anyone no matter the color the comments are not at all funny just ignorant. Stop and think how you would feel if you lost a loved one you would not be laughing. So illegal or not he is a human we need to help each other instead of hurting each other. Put yourself in there position because there human just like you and think about how much pain you would feel if you lost a parent a brother or sister. That's what they feel a person they loved is gone no longer there with them so please show some respect. And instead of hating people you don't even know get a chance to know them you might be surprised because there is good and bad anywhere no matter the races.

Oh my goodness you guys should be ashamed of yourselves! Just because he had Hispanic name doesn't mean he was illegal. He grew up in garden city I can't believe you people would even try to turn this into your own opnion. Have some respect for cesar it was a tragedy what happened! Think about his family and put yourself in his families place! Rip cesar we love you and you will be missed!

Seriously! It doesn't say anything about "illegals". A human being died. A family lost a loved one. Those of you making light of this should be ashamed of yourselves! If you ever lose a loved one you should hope that no one makes a joke of thier death.

There are illegals working everywhere. Ask Cornejo and Sons and the man arrested for trying to get into McConnel. I work in the public sector and most of them cant even speak english but they work and live in the area. Ridiculous.

The sad reality is that there is a very HIGH percentage of illegals working in Garden City and Liberal, KS meat packing plants. Everyone knows this. If you live there, you are well aware of it. Yes, the comments are sad, but probably true about the workers being illegals - and several running to avoid being arrested due to illegal status. The State continually turns a blind eye to these meat packing plants consistently employing illegal immigrants. Why? They steal ID's from legals, and the plants pay taxes to the state on illegal wages. The state doesn't care - they get their tax dollars - so they don't bother tracking down the illegals. It's more work to deport than it is to sit back and collect tax revenues that will never be claimed by anyone as withholding. The system is beyond broken, and no one wants to fix it.

Good call Gopher. Kinda funny how they seem to clear out when the popo arrives. Probably no witnesses... As a joke I just want to walk into one of those places and just randomly walk up to people and say "hi, I am with immigration and we are doing s spot audit and would like to confirm your papers"....lol...
