9 children in protective custody after rape and abuse investigation

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Wichita police said nine children are in protective custody after an investigation into child abuse and sex crimes. 

It happened Friday after a teen went to report abuse to the Wichita Police Department North Substation. 

Officers investigated and eight other children were taken into protective custody. 

Eric McFadden, 37, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of six counts of child abuse, rape of child under 14, and aggravated indecent liberties with a child. His bond has been set at $250,000. 

McFadden was booked into jail after boy reported he and two other children had been sexually assaulted. The man was the boyfriend of the children's mother.

The children range in age from an infant to 13.
