WICHITA, Kansas -- Three boys were booked into juvenile detention for setting off an acid bomb in a mailbox.
It happened early Sunday morning around 4 a.m. in the 2000 block of North West Street.
Police found the boys running southbound on West Street from 21st Street.
The officer thought it may have been a burglary.
"While detaining the three individuals, the officers heard an explosion. Initially, the officers thought it may have been a handgun. At this point in time, the three individuals informed the officers that it was not a firearm, but it was an explosive device which they had made," said Lt. Steve Kenney, Wichita Police Department.
One of the boys told the officer he learned how to make an acid bomb while watching a YouTube video.
All three were booked into juvenile detention.
