PROTECTION, Kansas - Protection police say a man is in jail charged with trying to kill a woman in a rest home.
The police chief says it happened early Saturday morning.
The chief says 44-year-old Gregory Weir was arrested after he tried to strangle a fellow patient at the Protection Valley Manor.
The chief told KSN that Weir choked 45-year-old woman until he thought she was dead.
The victim survived and Weir was arrested and charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault.
The KBI is assisting with the investigation.
