WICHITA, Kansas - Wichita police say they arrested nine women after a prostitution sting.
The sting took place Thursday along North and South Broadway.
Undercover officers found that several women were actively soliciting themselves.
Police say it is a crime they combat regularly.
"It's a crime that's hard to get a foothold on, and so by random enforcement or when we have complaints going down and enforcing them, it keeps people on their toes. We see a decreased activity after we've done one of our operations," said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.
The cops say they also aren't looking to put women in jail but to help them make a lifestyle change.
"We have community resources that have stepped forward. The YWCA has been actively involved in helping women that want to get out of that kind of lifestyle. Our goal is to really change the attitudes and the behaviors rather than just put people into jail," said Nolte.
