WICHITA, Kansas - Wichita police responded to a gang shooting near 21st Street and Grove around 8:40 p.m. Sunday.
The shooting happened behind the Boys & Girls Club.
Police say a group was playing basketball when another group came by and fired several shots.
"It appears at this time that some mean looks were exchanged between the two groups which prompted the argument and the shooting," said Lt. Randy Reynolds, Wichita Police Department.
A 20-year-old man was shot in the back, and an 18-year-old man was shot in the leg.
The 20-year-old man was taken to the hospital.
He is in stable condition.
The 18-year-old showed up at the hospital and was treated and released.
Police say the groups are rival gang members, and they're working to crack down on gang crime.
"You know our SCAT units are out every night trying to suppress the problem. But you know, this was kind of a crime of opportunity, they just happened to run across each other at this location," said Reynolds.
No arrests have been made.
Police are looking to see if security footage from the Boys & Girls Club will help them find the suspects.
