WICHITA, Kansas -- A woman successfully fended off a potential kidnapper after stabbing him multiple times with a pocketknife in southeast Wichita on Friday night, according to police.
The 38-year-old woman told police she was waiting at a stop sign at the intersection of Mt. Vernon and Woodlawn at about 10 p.m. when a man opened her car door, grabbed her hair and began punching her in the face, Sgt. Bruce Watts of the Wichita Police Department said.
Before her attacker could pull her out of the car, she grabbed a pocketknife and began stabbing and cutting him, causing him to eventually flee.
The woman was able to drive back home where she reported the incident to police.
She was then transported to the hospital, treated and released.
The suspect is still at large.
