Tears after loss of four students

ULYSSES, Kansas, March 28, 2007 – The town of Ulysses is in shock today and residents are mourning the loss of four teenage girls killed in a car crash Thursday.

The accident between a semi and a car took the lives of Myranda Mason, 16, Veronika McDaniel, 15, Victoria Dowell, 16, and Julia Alcala, 16.

Jennifer Longfellow, 16, was the driver of the car.  She is in serious condition in an Amarillo, Texas hospital.

Family and friends have placed a memorial of flowers at the site of the crash at Highway 160 and Stubbs in Ulysses.

At Ulysses High School, counselors are available for students and faculty who need help coping with the tragedy.

Funeral services are pending.  A memorial service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday at the Grant County Civic Center.
