Police investigate shooting outside of east Wichita club

By Jessica Oakley

WICHITA, Kansas, May 16, 2008 – Wichita police are investigating a shooting that started as a bar fight.

The fight broke out about 1:30 am Friday outside a bar at 21st and Woodlawn, which ended with one man being shot twice in the legs.

The victim ran to a nearby apartment building where officers found him. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Officers originally reported that the fight started inside the Looney Bin comedy club. Police later said that turned out to be incorrect.

"We're putting all he statements together, sounds like it was over a pool game, but right now it's sketchy, we're trying to put together what we have,” said Lt. Walker Andrews with the Wichita Police Department.

The suspects ran off and so far, have not been arrested.
