WICHITA, Kansas July 19, 2008-Wichita police are investigating an accidental shooting that occurred in the 800 block of north Terrace.

Police say a 17-year-old boy shot a girl in the arm and chest Friday evening. A family member drove the 14-year-old girl to the hospital.  She was later treated and released. Police say it happened as the girl and the boy, described as a friend of hers,  were sitting on his porch. As he unloaded a gun, it went off, striking the girl.

Although police say the shooting was accidental, the boy was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, and a juvenile in possession of a firearm.
