Municipal court clerk investigated

By Jessica Oakley

WICHITA, Kansas, July 21, 2008 -- KSN has learned of a criminal investigation at city hall involving a municipal court clerk.

The court clerk is accused of taking bribes to alter court documents. It's a crime with the potential to cost the city thousands of dollars.

There are allegations that the city employee used the court's computer system to delete or reduce bond amounts. There is also evidence that in some cases she erased warrants for people's arrest altogether.

In return, she allegedly received kick backs from multiple bond companies.

The clerk in question has been suspended with pay while the investigation takes place.

Neither the city nor the Wichita Police Department has any comment on the investigation.
