By Jessica Oakley

GRANT COUNTY, Kansas, September 5, 2008 – The Kansas Highway Patrol says an 11-year-old boy was involved in a high-speed chase that ended in a crash early Friday morning.

Officials say 11-year-old Ivan Rodriguez of Ulysses was fleeing from a Grant County sheriff’s deputy in a vehicle when he lost control on a gravel road. The car went into a ditch, rolled several times and came to rest on its wheels.

Rodriguez and an 11-year-old passenger were transported to a hospital in Ulysses. Both were wearing seat belts.
