WICHITA, Kansas, September 8, 2008 – A 62-year-old man remains on life support after a homemade device he was working with accidentally went off.

The explosion occurred Sunday morning at the man’s apartment on N. Emporia. Authorities had to evacuate the apartment complex and the bomb squad was brought in.

The man was apparently tinkering with electronics and experimenting making home-made weapons when he tripped and fell, setting one off.

Authorities don’t think he was making the devices with the intent to harm anyone.
