Woman identified in fatal  Butler Co. car  crash

BUTLER COUNTY, Kansas, October 10, 2008 – Butler County authorities are investigating a traffic accident that left a woman dead and a man injured Friday morning.

Officials say the woman, 56-year-old Linda Tjarks of Rosehill,  was traveling west on SW 180th when a lawn service truck, traveling at a high rate of speed, ran a stop sign and hit the woman as she crossed the intersection.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and the man, identified as 26-year-old Brian Springer of Rosehill,  driving the truck, was taken to a Wichita hospital for treatment.

The Butler County Attorney's Office will be looking over the case to decide what if any charges might be filed.
