WICHITA, Kansas -- A man suspected of burglary was taken into custody after leading police on a chase and then crashing into the same house he was caught trying to steal from.
Sedgwick County Deputies took the call around 11:30 Thursday night. They got to the 2000 block of S. Seneca and saw the suspect vehicle leaving a home.
When they tried to pull the truck over, the driver immediately tried to get away. It didn’t last long though; he soon circled back around to the same house and crashed the truck through the front door.
Officers say the man does know the people that live in the home.
“I wouldn’t say it’s common, but when there’s domestic issues going on, which we think there may be,” says Jason Gill of the Sedgwick Co. Sheriff’s Department. “It’s not uncommon for them to come back to the original spot. This is uncommon for them to drive through and make a door bigger.”
There were several people in the home at the time of the crash, but they were not in the room where the truck crashed in.
The man driving the track was not injured. He was taken into custody, accused of evading police, three counts of aggravated assault, and possibly DUI.
