SEDGWICK COUNTY, Kansas - Fears that Cheney Lake will dry up by 2015 seem to have diminished after recent rains.
The lake is up five feet in just the last seven days and is considered full. That does not mean it will flood.
Lake overflow is going into flood control pools which are only 10-percent full.
It's a huge difference in just a matter of months.
Last November, KSN did a story showing a boat dock that no longer reached the water. The lake level was so low, the water's edge was about 20 feet from the farthest end of the dock.
People who work at Cheney Reservoir say the added water will be good for business.
"We've, even in the past couple of days, had a lot of people that said they weren't going to renew the registration on their boat because the lake had been low and they've come in and renewed those registrations," said Brian Haug, a park ranger at Cheney State Park.
All seven boat docks at Cheney are now open.
