GREAT BEND, Kansas -- A 38-year-old Ellinwood man riding a motorcycle died when he hit a deer Monday evening.
It happened between Great Bend and Ellinwood on Highway 56.
The Barton County Sheriff's Department says Daniel Otipoby was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson Sportster when a deer crossed in front of him hit the motorcycle.
He was ejected and flew several hundred feet down the highway from the point of impact.
Otipoby was rushed to the Great Bend Regional Hospital where he died.
The accident is under investigation.
The students on the school bus were not injured.
