WICHITA, Kansas - Rescue crews had trouble responding to an emergency plane landing.
It took about an hour to find the plane. The pilot is OK.
According to 911 dispatchers, the pilot reported that the engine on a Cessna 182 went out and he had to make the emergency landing just before 6 p.m.
At first, it was believed he would attempt a landing near Lake Cheney.
Then there were reports the plane landed in Sumner County near 130th and Mayfield Road just south of Clearwater. A Sumner County deputy went there and couldn't find the plane.
Later, the FAA notified Sedgwick County officials that the plane was 20 miles west of Wichita, possibly in Kingman County. Crews headed that direction.
Just before 7 p.m., officials found the plane and made contact with the pilot in Reno County a mile or two north of the Kingman County line on McNew Road.
