WICHITA, Kansas -- For some Wichita State Shocker fans, the wait to get to the Final Four was a rather long one and fans are hoping to be part of the action saying it was well worth the wait.
Braving the chilly temperatures nearly a hundred fans were waiting outside of the Wichita State Athletics Ticket Office Monday morning.
"It's so cold," said Tyler Hockenberry, Wichita State Shocker fan.
Fans were hoping to buy tickets for the Final Four in Atlanta.
"No way I'm going to miss this," said Jim Mackie, Wichita State Shocker fan. "I'm going to be driving though, but I couldn't afford to ride the plane or anything, but I'm going to be driving."
A long time WSU Shocker fan Mackie tells KSN News his dreams to see his favorite team play in the Final Four has become reality overnight.
"I remember when Nate Bowman, Dave Stallworth, Kelly Pete when they went," said Mackie. "I watched it on television when they went to the Final Four. It was 1965."
Another fan and alum Mark Stump hasn't missed a game since 1978.
"Still kinda hard to believe that's why were here in line," said Mark Stump, Wichita State Shocker fan. "We want to see this for real so it's exciting you just want to go around and high five everybody."
The ticket office started with more than 3,200 tickets and regardless of where you sit it's going to cost you around $300.
Representatives from the WSU Alumni Association tells KSN News travel packages to Atlanta went on sale Saturday and by Sunday evening they had already sold out all three travel packages.
Packages can cost fans anywhere up to $2,400 per person.
"Hopefully they make it to the finals," said Preston Doll, WSU senior. "If they make it to the finals it will be a great time to live in Wichita if they go ahead and make it. I already think it's been great!"
The WSU Alumni Association was working early Monday on putting together a fourth charter to Atlanta to accommodate fans interested in going, but that plan fell through because they couldn't get enough people to fill the charter.
The Wichita State Athletics Ticket Office still has around 2,000 tickets left as of Monday evening.
