LINDSBORG, Kansas - Residents in Lindsborg have been dealing with high water since Monday night.
Today, many began cleaning up and assessing the damage.
"The force of the water broke the windows in our basement so we have nine feet of water in our basement up to the floorboards. I think they estimated 80,000 gallons pumping out right now," said Marla Elmquist, Lindsborg resident.
The damage was mostly on the northwest side of town.
Four companies are helping residents by pumping out water that has flooded basements and damaged homes.
"Well some of them are completely full from floor to ceiling. In fact, just down the street there's six feet in that basement over there and there, there's almost seven feet in this basement. And right next to them same thing, seven feet," said Mark Jameson, ChemDry Employee.
Red Cross disaster relief set up shelter at the high school.
"We have teams, we have Red Cross volunteers that are going around with city and taking a look at all the damage that is done. Basically taking down the address and seeing what kind of damage, if it was minor to destroyed, where the damage was, and then, we'll take that information to decide what kinds of needs might be needed," said Lisa Houlbeig, Red Cross Program Services Manager.
