WICHITA, Kansas – Antonio Thomas is still recovering after being shot in Old Town early Sunday morning.
“If I lift it up to high, it feels like spikes, sharp spikes.”
Flashing a charming smile to hide the pain, Thomas says he’s grateful to be alive.
“Just a couple of inches more in my head, I would’ve been gone.”
Thomas is one of six people that survived that deadly shooting.
He says he had just walked out of the door when he heard some people arguing in the distance.
“Got to the ending of the ramp and I heard the first gun.”
Thomas says chaos immediately erupted. He didn’t realize that he had been shot.
“It was like pow pow pow pow pow. I was hit, and I hit the ground, got back up and attempted to run, and that’s when I was hit in the head.”
Thomas made it to the alley. His friends waited by his side until paramedics arrived.
“It’s just messed up. That one person did that and affected all these people.”
He was shot in the hip and his head with the bullet barely grazing his skull.
“It went in right here and then came out right here.”
Now relying on a cousin for care.
It will take some time for Thomas to heal.
In spite of all he’s been through including losing his friend Kolby Hopkins.
He says he looks forward to returning to the night life that almost ended his as well.
