WICHITA, Kansas -- Police have taken a baby girl into protective custody as detectives investigate a possible case of child abuse.
The parents, 18 and 19 years old, took the 8-month-old baby to Wesley Medical Center Wednesday morning because she had a high temperature.
Police say doctors ran some tests and found the baby had a skull fracture.
"There was some inconsistencies in terms of exactly how the skull fracture might have come to be," said Lt. Doug Nolte, Wichita Police Department.
He said the parents didn't say what caused the injury.
"They just said the baby had a high fever," Nolte said.
The Exploited and Missing Child Unit is investigating the case.
Police are looking for a suspect who allegedly car jacked a 38-year-old man who was leaving a movie Sunday night.
