WELLINGTON, Kansas - Emergency crews were called to the rail yard in Wellington early Tuesday morning to rescue a worker.
A Burlington Northern Santa Fe employee was pinned under a railcar west of Fair Street at 2:20 a.m.
The worker had critical injuries to the lower part of the body.
Wellington Fire and EMS responded. Paramedics began medical care while the other crews determined how best to free the worker.
It took 45 minutes to get the worker out from under the wheels of the car.
The victim was flown to a Wichita hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
