LINCOLN, Kansas - Scott Weigel appeared before a judge Wednesday afternoon in Lincoln County District Court.
Weigel is accused of shooting and killing 21-year-old Keith Ancell.
Dressed in jail attire and shackles, Weigel showed little emotion as he was lead into the courtroom.
Judge Debra Wright outlined the second degree charges against him.
Police say the shooting happened around 1:30 Monday morning on East School Street in Lincoln
Weigel was advised by his counsel to not give a plea at this time.
Judge Wright did note that the penalty for a charge of murder in the second degree is a prison term of 653 months or 54 years.
Weigel will be back in court October 8th.
The students on the school bus were not injured.
