LYONS, Kansas – A suspect is in custody and a town is in shock after a woman is found murdered in her Lyons home.

Friends of 31-year-old Jeannie Jacobsen say her body was found by her estranged husband and their seven-year-old son Sunday morning. Now police in
Baytown, Texas – outside of Houston – confirm to KSN they made an arrest on a Kansas warrant Sunday night.

Police say the suspect was arrested while shopping at a Wal-Mart in Baytown. There is no word yet on when he might be brought back to Kansas to face charges in Jacobsen’s murder.

Police spent the entire day Sunday collecting evidence at Jacobsen’s home in
Lyons. Her body was found inside, the door was kicked in and food was found smoldering on the stove.

Jacobsen’s friends say she left a Halloween party at around 12:30 Sunday morning in spite of their pleas for her to stay. They say a week ago she got a restraining order against an ex-boyfriend who had been threatening her and was violent with her in the past.

Jacobsen leaves behind a seven-year-old son as well as two daughters ages 10 and 13.

Police in Lyons have refused to comment to KSN about the case.
