WICHITA, Kansas -- It's a sign of how heated the campaign season is going. Now political advertisements are being plucked from people's yards.
"You just wonder who would do that," said Senator Jean Schodorf
As we get closer to the August primary, candidates running for Congress say their political placards have been stolen.
"I really don't know why somebody would want to take a sign," Schodorf said.
One minute they're there. The next minute they're gone.
"We've heard reports every single day," said Scott Paradise with Wink Hartman's campaign.
Paradise says one supporter noticed his 4X8 sign missing when he woke up the next morning.
"He went on with his day and he went to Quik Trip down the street and found the sign in the Quik Trip dumpster," Paradise said.
None of the campaigns know who the thieves are.
"There's no probably one person or one group," said Josh Wells with Mike Pompeo's campaign. "It's just unfortunate that people have to do that."
As soon as the signs go missing, however, campaign volunteers step into action.
"We're replacing those signs almost as fast as they're removed," said Wells.
"They're on call and ready to deliver the signs as soon as we need them to," said Paradise.
Schodorf is completely out of posters, so she's had to be creative.
"I had some old signs from the Senate and we put stickers on those," she said.
Only time will tell if the missing markers will have a negative effect on the candidates' campaigns.
