All I have to say is unless u actually fought in that war, like my father and hear the tales of these so called allies jumping the line, whenever it was beneficial to themselves-go to hexx. I have heard stories that these so called "men" would play whatever side was most beneficial to themselves at the time. So u might ask, what is wrong with that, Nothing until u are that a American soldier depending on their loyalty-HAHA. I am an american-it is time to start helping my children, not everyone else's. When we are assisting others to a roof over their head, to eat, and to an education, and there are people in the USA that need the same assistance-that is a bunch of BULLSXXT. Lets help the poor at home before we worry about the world.

Being accused of "racism" in this example is not any different then those throwing that "r" word around when it comes to standing up against illegal aliens. Looks like Wichita Ks has become a Sanctuary City. Our war memorials are in honor of our American Vets. If you would go to Vietnam you would see some of the honors they pay to their veterans there. The battle fields and tunnels and such. Reminds me of cinco-de-mayo. Why should we celebrate the independence of our Latin American neighbors in this country? And to celebrate a whole month for it as well. Many of these same people do not even respect what America is or her flag. This is what you csll protecting our sovereignty. Don't make America the same land as many of these people left.

Just when I thought is was over... anti Asian racism raises it's ugly head again. Are we going to start hearing the "g word" again?

To LonnythePlumbe...I am starting to feel shame for you Lonny. I don't know of any Patriot Guard who are flying the American Flag upside down. What do you do, make this stuff up? Why do the people who support the Vietnamese in this issue always accuse those of us who oppose you of hate and prejudice? Our whole position is that to be able to earn a place in Veterans Memorial Park you have to have served in the American Armed Forces for the conflict you wish to memorialize. Period. Not a hard idea to grasp is it? The only thing we have against the Vietnamese is that after we have made our feelings known about this issue they continue to press their issue.

I am starting to feel shame for being a viet nam era veteran because of the prejudice against a memorial honoring our American soldiers as well as our allies the Vietnamese soldiers. Why should the Veteran Park be the Hate Park? How many of the Patriot Guard are now flying our American Flag upside down?

Tosmwilson76...this proposed memorial is to recognize Vietnamese soldiers who fought for their country of Vietnam, as Vietnamese citizens to be placed in a Veteran's Memorial Park that was specifically dedicated to the Service of United States Military. If Vietnamese soldiers are memorialized here, where does it stop? I had an uncle that served in the British Army during WWII alongside a 1st Cav. Unit. Can we place a memorial in Veteran's Park to recognize the service of the British Soldiers that served their country of Great Britain, because after all, they were Allies of the Americans as well (and by the way, he became an American citizen after the war too!). How about the French, German, Canadian, Russian, Irish, Iraqi, Afghanistani (and the list could go on and on) military that all have fought as allies with the United States Military in conflicts around the world? Let's maintain a United States Military Veteran's Memorial Park as it was originally designated for AMERICAN military, for AMERICAN Veterans, for AMERICAN heroes who fought for AMERICA. In reference to the Town Hall meeting called by Mayor Brewer to allow communications with the vietnamese community on this issue, has a townhall meeting been setup for anyone else interested in this issue? Has the City setup any meetings with local Veteran's organizations such as the American Legion, VFW, DAV, etc. for their input, recommendations, suggestions?

To smwilson76,

As anyone stopped to think that all the Vietnamese soldiers fighting to be included via the new memorial are now AMERICAN CITIZENS. They fought side by side with our soldiers. They made the same sacrifices and are now dealing with the same issues. To exclude them under the guise that the park is for Americans, is simply ridiculous. Wake up people. The term "American" has broad definition now. Let's stop being so narrow minded.

Let them have their own where ever they want to put it but not here. It's the least we can do for our soldiers who fought to keep us safe.

How do we know that they were on our side. Build it in Saigon. The MEMORIAL is for American Troops. We paid for by our Blood fighting for them. We earned it. GOD BLESS THE AMERICAN SOLDIERS! .
