WICHITA, Kansas – A Derby man has been formally charged with a bomb scare from Monday. Ted Mangold, who also goes by the name “Melissa,” is charged with threatening a federal employee.

Investigators say he carried a container into the Social Security Administration building in
Wichita Monday, claiming “I have a bomb and I’m going to kill everyone.” The security guard convinced Mangold to leave.

He was arrested later in the day at his home in Derby. The bomb squad detonated a suspicious device, but in the end authorities didn’t find anything of danger.
