HUTCHINSON, Kansas – A Hutchinson day care has been shut down by the state after an infant suffered head injuries.

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment issued the order of suspension for the day care home Monday after the infant was injured last week.

The day care provider reported she left the infant in a swing, left the room and then heard the swing hitting the wall. She said she thought one of the other children may have pushed the swing into the wall. The child’s parent was called and upon arrival called 911.

The infant was transferred to Wesley Medical Center where a doctor determined the infant had suffered bi-lateral retinal hemorrhaging, which could not have resulted from the provider’s report of what happened.

Authorities are investigating the case.
