WICHITA, Kansas – After working half a century in the industry, KSN General Manager Al Buch has announced his retirement.
In a letter to employees Tuesday, Buch announced he will retire at the end of the year.
Buch got his first job at WOI-TV in Ames, Iowa 50 years ago this fall while he was in his second year as a journalism student.
“I’ve had a lot of fun and I hope I’ve contributed to the well-being of the industry and the careers of those I’ve touched along the way,” Buch said in his letter.
Buch said his retirement has been in the works with New Vision’s Executive Vice President Steve Spendlove since last spring. After several candidates’ names were considered to replace Buch, it was decided that the position will go to John Dawson from Indianapolis.
Dawson was most recently the president of his own management consulting firm in Indianapolis. His client base included New Vision Television.
"I am both honored and excited to lead the team of broadcast professionals Al has assembled at KSN,” Dawson said. “I look forward to helping develop multimedia marketing programs and creative customized solutions for the needs of our clients and viewers in this very competitive market."Buch told his employees the time is right for him to retire and “share the fun.”
