LAWRENCE, Kansas (AP) - A man whose business distributed a substance that mimics the effects of a marijuana has been arrested.Twenty-nine-year-old Jonathan Sloan was charged Friday in Jefferson County District Court with eight felony drug offenses, including the unlawful manufacturing and distribution of controlled substances.
His business, Bouncing Bears Botanicals, had supplied a Lawrence store called Sacred Journey with a substance known as K2.
Both businesses were raided Thursday, and the marijuana-like substance was pulled off the shelves of Sacred Journey. Federal, state and local authorities also have seized more than $700,000 in cash from Sloan's business and bank accounts.
K2 isn't illegal, although the Legislature is expected to get a bill to Gov. Mark Parkinson this session that would ban it.
