NEW YORK -- After three days of controversy, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure breast-cancer charity says it is reversing its decision to cut breast-screening grants to Planned Parenthood.

"We want to apologize to the American public for recent decisions that cast doubt upon our commitment to our mission of saving women's lives," a Komen statement said.

As first reported by The Associated Press on Tuesday, Komen had adopted criteria excluding Planned Parenthood from grants because it was under government investigation, notably a probe launched in Congress at the urging of anti-abortion groups.

Komen said Friday it would change the criteria so it wouldn't apply to such investigations.

"We will continue to fund existing grants, including those of Planned Parenthood, and preserve their eligibility to apply for future grants," the statement said.

Rather than cowboy talk and name calling 'what the h***', 'you deserve to have it broken', 'narrow minded', how about a little productive discussion? Please bring some facts to the table. This kind of talk is just like PP and 'forcing your religion or beliefs' on my 'choice' and more bullying than 'open minded' discussion that you are supposedly advocating. You can't expect someone to do something you're not doing yourself.

You can look at it however you like and come up with any number of quips. The fact still remains - you cannot force your religion or beliefs on anyone else. That mindset is exactly what has started a great many wars "in the name of God". My belief is simple; if you can't keep your nose out of other people's business, you deserve to have it broken.

Something to ponder: The only ones advocating pro-choice are those who were given the right to life.

Sure asp - whatever you say. I guess 'admirable' is only admirable if it coincides with the narrow minded zealots that can't mind thier OWN business in this society.

Too late, SGK. You have been exposed as a huge fraud that has become a tool of the religious right. I hope that in the years to come Planned Parenthood becomes even more effective at providing services and support to women in need.

How unfortunate. Komen chooses to do something admirable and takes a stand based on their beliefs. They are bullied into reversing it by groups who hypocritically advocate 'choice'. It appears 'choice' is only ok if it coincides with what these 'choice' groups believe in... If Planned Parenthood wasn't involved in so many horrific activities against unsuspecting and trusting women and their children, this wouldn't be so disturbing.
