Man arrested for bleacher theft attempt at city park

WICHITA, Kansas – Wichita police arrested a man Wednesday afternoon while he was allegedly attempting to steal bleacher benches from a SE Wichita park.

Police responded to Schweiter Park in the 900 block of S. Chautauqua at around 4:45 on a suspicious character call. That’s where they found a 31-year-old man unbolting bleacher seats.

The man told police he was taking the bleachers so he could sell them for scrap.
