WICHITA, Kansas β A Wichita man ended up in the hospital after trying to put out a fire in the kitchen of his home on W. Julianne this afternoon.
By the time fire crews arrived, there was heavy smoke coming from the house and the homeowner needed medical help for smoke inhalation.
βHe attempted to extinguish himself, it delays our arrival and he risked bodily injury,β said Captain Ken Rodgers with the Wichita Fire Department.
Rodgers say homeowners should always call 911 first. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
