WICHITA, Kansas -- Wichita Police say a teenage girl who had been missing for 12 hours was found safe and sound in a Park City home.

Police are still investigating to determine the circumstances of her disappearance.

The 14-year-old girl, who KSN will no longer name since she has been found safe and is a minor, was last seen early Wednesday morning leaving her home in Planeview in the 3600 block of E. Dunham. She told her family she couldn’t sleep and was going for a walk. She was text messaging her brother until about 1 a.m., and then she stopped replying. Her brother told their mom, who tried calling her, but the calls went straight to voice mail.

She is from Minnesota. She moved to Wichita just two days ago because she wanted to live with her mom.

A teenage boy was taken into custody from the home in Park City for questioning. No charges have been filed. The girl was taken downtown to be interviewed by officers before being taken back home.

Police used a helicopter, mounted units and canine units to assist in the search.

1st. glad the young girl is safe. 2nd. xCjH23, the language isnt called for. people are just asking the obvious questions. She is 14yrs old, and she shouldn't have been out walking around at that time of night. And if you think it was ok for her to be staying at a friends house as you call it is ok without telling her mother, tells me and I suspect others on this comment page, you're very young as well. 3rd And calling her a brat isn't necessary either. Again, no one knows what has gone on. But bottom line, she should have been at home, not walking around in this area or any area at that time of night. How quick we forget about the teenager who was killed when she went to a friends down the street. And her mother might not have known but her brother did. so he should have let his mother know. Sorry, whether she is a good person or hard worker she should have let her mother know. And especially not let people worry about her for 12 hours. Again answers are left in the dark, media are reporting only what they know. And people jump all over it.. I have to laugh there is always someone that is going to complain about the police. Hopefully she will think twice before she repeats this again..alot of manpower and money was put into this search. Which might end up costing her parents.

Hope she understands all the ramifications of her actions and learned a lesson from this! Why didn't we hear an Amber Alert!?!?

If she moved down here to get away from her dad, that might be a good place to start. Often times kidnappings happen when the non-custodial parents wants their child and comes and swipes them.

I am sorry something just does not sound right about this story. What 14 year old would go for a walk at midnight alone in an area they hardly know. I really hope the outcome is positive for the family and girl.
