I think verified show dogs should be exempt from this spay/neuter requirement - create a special license for these dogs if they need to be tracked. I am MUCH more concerned with the Ciy leash law actually being ENFORCED! We have several dogs on our street that are allowed to run loose and go after people walking on the sidewalks, but it is difficult to get anyone to care because they're small-breed mixes and not seen as "dangerous". They chase adults, kids, cats, and run into traffic. Banning breeds does not create responsible ownership - enforcement of regulations is more effective.

My dog is part pit bull and part boxer, and because she's got the pit bull in her, I have to microchip. Tell me, will the State help cover the cost? Can I get a coupon or something? Doubtful.

my mom is the owner of an abandoned pit bull that followed her home from the park one day because some irresponsible jerk didn't want to breed her anymore. This sweet, mild mannered dog just wanted a home. It's so sad that a life form lower on the food chain is being blamed for the stupidity of it's superior beings.

The breed isn't the problem...stupid people having the dogs is the problem! There isn't anything wrong with any dog, Dalmation, PitBull, Doberman, Rotwiller, or Rat Terrier(which I own and he is not annoying, he is actually the best dog I have ever owned!) The problem is the people who own and raise these dogs! Don't blam an animal that doesn't know any better! Start fining the idiots that can't take care of the animal! You want to tax and charge people for stupid stuff, but when stupid people own a defenseless animal and don't raise it right and it attacks someone or something you don't want to make them pay for their actions you just want to kill the dog...just doesn't seem fair if you ask me!

how CRUEL! does anyone know what the #1 most vicious dog is??? that would be a DALMATION! why not knock them off to while your at it! i ONCE was one of the ignorant ppl who couldn't stand the breed because my son was almost attacked, but, the owner was an irresponsible teen girl newly out on her own who would let her friends torment the dog...it was NOT the dogs fault!as i have learned...i NOW have a friend who once owned the most amazing pit bull..truly the most amazing dog ever...no matter what breed he was.the moment i met this dog,my entire outlook changed.when i seen this dog baby my kitten who was hissing hysterially at him...he was truly amazing with her.since then...the dog was shot cuz he had gotten out of an unknown hole in the fence.HOWEVER! while he was out of his fence he was NOT aggressive with anyone...all the neighbors have confirmed this. when they shot him he was IN HIS YARD! not hurting ANYONE! the girl who owned the dog has since moved from the house..i now live in the house, she couldn't take the heart break of seeing where her dearest companion was blown away everyday. but! in this house since i've lived here...there is a nusince jack russell who animal control has been contacted over NUMEROUS times..they've even had to come out at 2 am over this dog...he was wickedly attacking a oppossum 3 times his size...WHY DIDN'T THE POLICE SHOOT THIS DOG???????HE WAS CLEARLY AGGRESSIVE! animal control picked him up that night and his owner has since gotten him back...and i've had to contact animal control MORE over this dog! while your banning breeds...why don't you take out those annoying dogs? don't take it out on the animal itself..i understand there are cases where the dogs are too far gone with behaviours...so why not make it MORE severe for the BAD BAD OWNERS! the majority of them just get another one! STOP MAKING THIS ABOUT A BREED!!!!!!!!!!!!THE BREED IS AMAZING IF PPL WOULD JUST GIVE THEM HALF A CHANCE!!!!!

Banning a breed is not a solution. Banning a breed only hurts the responsible Pit Bull owners and does NOTHING to those who are irresponsible and abusive! Bans will also not affect only Pit Bulls but ANY breed that animal control or whomever thinks is a pit bull. Ther have already been numerous dogs killed that were said to be pit bulls but werent, Boxers, some labs and other breeds are commonly classified as pit bulls. AND if Pit bulls are to be banned than what about all the other Bully breeds? Should we just wipe them all out? Pit bulls are one of the most abused and most killed breed! Not to mention as much as everyone hates to admitt it Pit Bulls are NOT the only breed to ever attack or bite people or children but they are the breed that you always hear about. Do your research on the breed. Look at how many pit bulls are tortured, abused and killed every year. The numbers are monsterous and why is this breed punished for what humans do to them. I've seen ones that have been neglected, fought, beaten etc and all they want is to STILL be with their humans. It is sad what we have done to this breed and yet we still continue to punish them for what we have done to them! Leash laws need to be inforced and stickter laws for those that abuse and neglect their pets.

I am wondering why no one is doing a story on how animal control doesn't keep cages clean even in their new facility, how they do little or nothing to locate dog owners EVEN when dogs are tagged and/or micro chipped or how they may eventually call an owner after they've held dog for several days before even calling an owner only to demand additional funds due to the extended amount of time the animal has been there. How they refuse to adopt dogs or puppies they believe to be Pits even if they are clearly not. They also seem to almost get a thrill from putting animals to sleep, especially pit bulls. NOT to mention why is there never a mention of the ratio of pit bulls owned compared to other breeds? If Pit bulls are 3 times more popular and owned by 3 times more people than other breeds of course there will be more found NOT to mention people almost always will call animal control when a pit is loose and animal control will rush right out. People will not always call for other breeds that are loose and animal control certainly doesnt come right out in those cases. LASTLY if there are more Pit bulls owned and licensed than any other breed then maybe that should also tell you something positive about pit bulls. Ask anyone at the humane society and they will all tell you how great Pit Bulls are and several employees there own them Pit Bulls as well. So even though they deal with all breeds pits are still a breed they choose to own. All things mentioned above are things I've repeatively heard from other kansas as well as my own experiences in the past

Pretty much BS! pit bull don't really kill anyone and the law wants to cut his balls off? better off cutting a Child Molester balls off or a murderer Hands off so they wont commit the crime again... that's a shame... ending a animal Breed to become extinct where PETA at?

My daughter-in-law was attacked by a pit bull last week in Wichita. She was walking with my 4 month old grandson. The dog only attacked her. The homeowner was in the house the whole time and didn't come to her aid during the attack. The story could have been so much worse. I think these dogs should be outlawed. Then we find out that this dog may be given back to the owner. Great job Wichita. Makes me feel safer---not!!!

Having raised pit bulls most of my life it is said that it has come to this. The sad truth is that this ordinance will to nothing to keep irresponsible owners from doing the same things. All it is doing is punishing the responsible pit owners
